In a stern message, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi warned on Friday that Iran would respond resolutely to any potential attack by the United States following a strike that resulted in the death of three American troops in Jordan.
The warning coincided with Israeli airstrikes in Syria, claiming the lives of three fighters, including an official from Iran's Revolutionary Guards.
President Raisi emphasized Iran's commitment to avoiding initiation of any conflicts, stating, "We have said many times that we will not be the initiator of any war, but if a country, a cruel force wants to bully, the Islamic Republic of Iran will respond firmly." He made these remarks during a visit to a Gulf naval base operated by the Revolutionary Guards in Bandar Abbas.
While addressing the issue of Iran's military power in the region, President Raisi clarified that it poses no threat to any country but rather serves as a source of security for nations in the region. He reassured, "Today, the enemy has no ability to do anything against us because they know that our forces are powerful and capable."
The recent drone strike in Jordan resulting in the death of three American soldiers marked the first instance of US military losses to hostile fire in the region since the Gaza conflict on October 7.
Simultaneously, Israeli airstrikes south of Damascus on Friday claimed the lives of three pro-Iran fighters, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. Reports from Iranian media suggested that an adviser from the Revolutionary Guards was among the casualties. The incident further escalates tensions in the region, emphasizing the volatile situation and the complex dynamics at play.
